1.defense (n): sự bảo vệ, sự che chắn

Ví dụ: It is important to develop more environmentally friendly logging practices.

3.    erosion (n): sự xói mòn

Ví dụ:  Soil erosion leads to the pollution of streams and rivers.

Ví dụ: When soil erodes, there are no nutrients left to help plants grow.

4.     extent (n): sự mở rộng

Ví dụ: the extent of environmental damage caused by logging is frightening.

• extend (v): mở rộng

Ví dụ: The Amazon rain forest extends from Brazil into neighboring countries.

• extensive (adj): mở rộng, rộng lớn

Ví dụ: The Amazon rain forest extends from Brazil into neighboring countries.

5.     pollution (n): sự ô nhiễm

Ví dụ:  Deforestation contributes to the effects of both air and water pollution.

Ví dụ: Factories  add pollutants to the air and water.

• 6. stability (n): sự ổn định

Ví dụ: The stability of the natural environment depends on the interaction of many factors.

• stabilize (v): bình ổn, làm cho ổn định

Ví dụ:  We need to stabilize the damage caused by logging before it gets worse.

• stable ( adj): ổn định

Ví dụ:  If the banks of the river continue to erode, they will no longer be stable.
