To

• to some extent: partly: một phần nào đó

EX: To some extent, she was responsible for the accident.

Under

• under one’s breath: in a whisper; not intending to be heard: (nói) nhỏ, thì thầm

EX: He muttered something under his breath.

• under the circumstances: because of the current situation/circumstance: trong trường hợp/tình trạng hiện tại

EX: Under the circumstances, there is little hope for an early settlement.

• under no circumstances: regardless of events or conditions; never: cho dù trong bất cừ trường hợp nào; không bao giờ

EX: Under no circumstances should you see them again.

• under control: able to be controlled or influenced: (mọi thứ) trong tầm kiểm soát >< out of control/out of hand: (mọi thứ) vượt ngoài tầm kiểm soát

EX: Everything is under control, sir.

• under fire: being shot at; being criticized: (là đối tượng) bị chỉ trích; bị (súng) bắn, bị tấn công (bằng súng)

EX: The troops were under fire for weeks.
The president has come under fire for vetoing the bill to cut taxes.

• under the impression that: having the idea/belief that: cho rằng, nghĩa rằng

EX: I was under the impression that they were coming today

• under the influence of: affected by (usually alcohol or drugs): bị ảnh hưởng bởi (rượu hoặc thuốc phiện)

EX: He was arrested for driving under the influence.

Up

• up in the air: uncertain (with regard to the outcome of a situation): không chắc chắn, không rõ (về kết quả của một vấn đề)

EX: The future of the company has been up in the air since one of its key shareholders was compelled to sell its stake.

With

• with a vengeance: more than usual; with great force or extreme energy: năng nổ hơn (so với bình thường), nhiều hơn (so với bình thường)

EX: He’s been working with a vengeance over the past few weeks to make up for lost time.

Within

• within reason: that is reasonable: trong phạm vị cho phép hoặc có thể chấp nhận được

EX: We can wear anything we like to the office, within reason.
